We’ve recently acquired new technology from Goal Zero – Portable Solar Battery Chargers.
Imagine being anywhere on the planet and never needing to plug into a wall to recharge your phone, your camera or your computer. Goal Zero technology allows us to operate devices from anywhere in the world the sun shines, independent of an outside power source.
This technology plays a key role in Children of Africa Foundation’s ability to collect data in remote places in Africa, thousands of miles from any power electrical wires or power stations. Electricity can mean; running water, cultivation, refrigeration and communication.
We chose the “Sherpa” model for our upcoming Bicycle for Awareness adventure, because of its weight and because the inverter/battery and the solar panels can be used separately to charge twice the amount of devices at the same time, giving us the opportunity to have fully charged equipment in any situation.
It is the Children of Africa Foundation’s hope to work with other Cooperative Outposts to bring this and similar technology to remote areas of Africa, that in doing so will aid in the research of mobile health medicine and improve the overall quality of life for people living without electricity and fresh water.
